Our Chalet Assistant

Volunteering at Our Chalet, the oldest world center of the World Association of Girl Guides and Girl Scouts, offers the chance to discover your potential in different areas: leadership, diversity, hard work, self esteem, and team work.

Working as an Our Chalet Assistant allows you to live and work in Adelboden for up to 3-6 months. Being an Our Chalet Assistant, you will help running the daily life at the centre and live the guiding and scouting spirit in every corner.

Applicant Criteria:

  • Aged over 18 years
  • Practical and hard working
  • Capable of leading outdoor activities
  • Enjoys meeting and mixing with new people
  • Can communicate in English. 

What does a volunteer do? 

Programme

Day Programmes
- Leading hikes, excursion/city tours, high adventure courses, abseiling, skiing, sledding, building igloos and more! 

Evening Programmes
- Games, sports, campfire, craft, music, night hikes, Centenary Experience etc...

House
- Tours of the facilities
- Shop: sales, restocking, inventory
- Cooking: assisting the Chef with meal preparation
- Cleaning: bathrooms, resetting guest rooms, tidying, dishes
- Maintenance: repairs and snow shovelling
- Administration: office work and guest check ins

Six month opportunies are available for Lead Volunteer positions for Spring/Summer and Autumn/Winter. If you would like to be considered for this opportunity to develop your leadership skills, please note this request on your application.

Please know, all volunteer offers and placements are subject to the applicant obtaining and retaining the required permission (visa/permit) to enter and work in Switzerland.
