Facilities

Facilities at Our Chalet

Rooms

Our Chalet's main building has rooms that hold 1 to 7 people (single beds), and an attic dormitory for up to 22 people (mattresses on the floor). Our new chalet next door, the Spycher, has rooms for 1 to 4 people (some single beds and some bunk beds). Both houses have communal bathrooms.
Click here to see our page about rooms.

Laundry

There is a coin-operated washer and dryer for guest use in the women's bathroom downstairs. Laundry detergent is provided and an iron is available upon request from the office.

Meals

Breakfast and dinner are served family-style in the Big Room each day. Breakfast is around 8.00 (depending on the programme for the day), and dinner is at 18.30 (6:30pm). Spycher has facilities for you to use to prepare and store food for lunches and snacks. Meals for vegetarians and those with special dietary needs are available. Please indicate dietary needs on the Information Form (sent to group leaders).

The Spycher

The Spycher is our newest addition, opened in July 1999. The chalet has bedrooms, offices, activity rooms, and two tea kitchens. It is used for regular programme activities, as well as being available for conferences, seminars and special events.

Shop

Our Chalet has a small shop where you can purchase souvenirs and snacks. T-shirts, backpacks, postcards & stamps, chocolate, badges, pins, and other items are available. The shop is open most evenings after dinner.

Special Needs

Our Chalet welcomes Guides and Scouts with special needs! Everyone is invited to enjoy our healthy alpine air, rural environment, wholesome meals, rest and recreation, and international atmosphere.

Our new building, the Spycher, is wheelchair accessible. The main building, built in 1932, has had some adaptations to make the ground floor toilets and showers wheelchair accessible. The rest of the main house can be reached by an outside path leading to the back door.

Please contact us if you have specific questions about our facilities or programmes. We will do our best to accommodate your needs, but if special assistance is required, please bring a partner.

Self Catering and Camping

From June through September, it is possible to camp at Our Chalet, or to stay in a small house and cook for yourself. While staying in either of these places, you are invited to join in the same programmes offered to guests in the main house, and/or to plan your own programmes.

Food may be purchased in local shops at the bottom of the hill or in Adelboden. Basic supplies (bread, milk, etc.) may be ordered from the Our Chalet cook in the Main House as long as orders are received at least one week in advance.

Squirrel House

Squirrel House is the setting for indoor camping at Our Chalet. This small house on the Chalet grounds provides self-catering accommodation for up to 10 people. It is ideal for small groups backpacking through Europe!

Campsite and Camp House

Self-catered outdoor camping is also available on the grounds of Our Chalet.
