Our Chalet 4th July BBQ - Amy

We're halfway through the summer season here at Our Chalet.  The first events have gone very smoothly, and Girl Scouts and Guides from all over are experiencing the challenge, joy, and international friendship that only comes from the Chalet experience.  We are glad to report our group of summer volunteers all made it successfully through their training and are doing a fantastic job on program!  This summer, we have volunteers from  Australia, the UK, Canada, the Dominican Republic, Denmark, and the United States.

Our Canadian volunteers were very excited to celebrate Canada Day (July 1st) here at the Chalet.  The girls decorated the dining room with Canadian flags, and our dear Hasina served us pancakes with maple syrup for dessert!

Likewise, the American volunteers were quite excited to spend the American Independence Day (July 4th) at the Chalet.  The 4th of July opened our third event at the Chalet.  We celebrated by making “traditional American dishes” (i.e. potato salad, deviled eggs, and apple pie) for an on-site day barbeque!

Our first event group came from Kodiak, Alaska, St. Louis, Missouri, and San Antonio, Texas.  What an amazing group of girls!  Although they came from all over the United States, the girls loved meeting each other, encouraging each other through challenging new experiences, from abseiling down a gorge to hiking to the top of a mountain!  Their openness to new adventures, as well as to each other, is what makes guiding worldwide so beautiful.
