PROGRAMME MANAGER - OUR CHALET WORLD CENTRE - ADELBODEN, SWITZERLAND

WAGGGS is seeking a Programme Manager for Our Chalet, one of three full time senior staff members at the Centre, to take up the post on 01 June, 2000. The current Programme Manager will be completing her
contract in July, 2000.
The Programme Manager is responsible for planning, co-ordinating and implementing the programme for both the Winter and Summer seasons at Our Chalet, taking into account the different needs and wishes of all guests, aged 12 and up. The work also includes evaluation of the programme.
The Programme Manager reports to the World Centre Manager. The position is residential.

Applicants should:

  • have good knowledge of Girl Guiding/Girl Scouting - its methods and philosophy
  • be able to work with members of a multi-cultural staff team and with the many volunteer staff who work at Our Chalet
  • have experience in programme planning, presentation and evaluation
  • have experience of working with young people and adults
  • be fluent in English, both written and spoken, and have a good working knowledge of German
  • be able to instruct downhill skiing
  • have experience of leading walking groups in the mountains
  • have a current basic qualification in First Aid
  • be computer literate (Our Chalet uses PC with Microsoft Office)

Deputy World Centre Manager, Our Chalet, Adelboden, Switzerland

WAGGGS is seeking a Deputy World Centre Manager for Our Chalet, one of three full time senior staff members at the Centre, to take up the post on 01 May, 2000 . The current Assistant to the Guider-in-Charge will be completing her Contract in May, 2000.
Our Chalet is one of four World Centres under the direction of the World Association of Girl Guides and Girl Scouts. It is a typical Chalet in the Swiss Alps (altitude 1350m) and can accommodate up to 90 guests. Visitors come from all over the world to participate in outdoor activities and training. Several thousand Day Visitors are also welcomed annually, particularly in the high Summer Season.
The Deputy Centre Manager is responsible for the day to day administration and finances of the Centre and its Shop, the management of the Volunteer Staff, and the management of the Centres houses and
grounds.

The successful candidate will:

  • have extensive experience of Girl Guiding/Girl Scouting enjoy working with people of all ages and cultures
  • be able to work with members of a multi-cultural staff team and with the many volunteer staff who work at Our Chalet
  • speak and write English fluently and have a good working knowledge of German. Some knowledge of French would be an asset.
  • be computer literate (Our Chalet uses PC with Microsoft Office)
  • be physically fit, and experienced in outdoor programmes including mountain walking and alpine skiing
  • have training and experience in administrative, staff and financial management including budgeting.
