OUR CHALET today, Facilities
Our Chalet's beautiful building features a low, sloping roof that seems to just sweep clear of the ground. The complex consists of the main building, the little chalet built for Mrs Storrow, Squirrel House, Stöckli and a small shop. There is accommodation for 60 guests in the main chalet and four guests in the little chalet. There are an additional 20 spaces for campers in indoor and outdoor campsites. One of Our Chalet's traditions is that a group of girls sings a lullaby each night, after which the Chalet is quiet. This is important as the building creaks and groans and, unless everyone is still, no-one will sleep!

In the dining room (known as the Big Room) OUR CHALET staff serve Swiss food. Indoor programmes are also held here. In one corner of the room there is a Bernese-style fireplace with a Swiss cheese pot hanging above it. Antique Swiss furniture, including an eighteenth century bench and a seventeenth century hope chest, furnishes the room which serves as a gathering place for guests. On the wall a message reminds visitors of Mrs Storrow and her important role in the foundation of all World Centres: "To Helen Storrow, our world sisterhood owes this chalet for the promotion of Guiding and good between nations, 31 July 1932."
