OUR CHALET is near Adelboden in the Bernese Oberland in the Swiss Alps. Adelboden is a small village of about 3,500 people at the head of the Engstligen Valley. A half-hour walk from OUR CHALET takes the visitor to the village. There is one main street made up of buildings with overhanging roofs, and in what was once the English Church there is a very good local museum. There are lots of opportunities to buy gifts in the quaint mountain village of Adelboden. The main attraction of the local area is of course, the scenery.
&by Plane and Train:
OUR CHALET is easily reached from Geneva, Zürich and Bern airports. Take a train from the airports to Frutigen (via Bern, Spiez) which is the railway station that serves Adelboden, most of the trains change at Bern. At Frutigen you need to take a bus to Adelboden, the way is well signposted. Ask the driver to drop you off at Oey for OUR CHALET which they all know. At Oey walk up to OUR CHALET by crossing the river, following the road to the left. It is a strenuous uphill walk of about 20 min. Follow the signposts. Before your arrival you can ask OUR CHALET to meet you and/or your luggage at Oey for transport to OUR CHALET. But please let us know well in advance!

Train tickets may be purchased in advance through your travel agent, or at the train station where your journey begins. Groups of 10 or more are eligible for a group discount. If you plan to do a lot of traveling around Switzerland, it may be worth purchasing Eurail or Swiss Rail passes, or Half-Fare Cards - ask your travel agent for details. A Regional Pass for the Bernese Oberland is also available.
Even if you are stopping somewhere in Switzerland on your way to Our Chalet, it is generally cheaper to buy a ticket from your starting point through to Adelboden. The tickets are valid for travel to your destination for at least 2 days (some for one month, depending on the travel distance). A return (round trip) ticket is cheaper than two one-way tickets.
&by Car
If driving from Bern, Thun, Spiez (N6) Spiez take the Frutigen, Kandersteg, Adelboden Road. At Frutigen take the mountain road to Adelboden and drive the 15 km to Adelboden - Oey. It's before the centre of Adelboden. Drive up to OUR CHALET by crossing the river, following the road to the left. Follow the signposts. Note that private cars are permitted but buses are not allowed.
