OUR STAFF
Our Chalet is run by a small team of long-term management staff and short term volunteers from around the world.

World Centre Manager – Peter Neurauter (UK)
Peter became Our Chalet’s Manager in October 2000, bringing with him his wife, Alison, and their two children, Anton and Mattias who now attend a local school. Peter has formerly been Director of a holiday tour company, and of a national sports coaching and training organisation. He holds a first degree in Psychology and a Masters degree in Leisure and Tourism Management, as well as several other management and teaching qualifications. He is also an internationally qualified ski instructor.

Deputy World Centre Manager (Admin) – Louise Berry (UK)

Louise became Deputy Manager of Our Chalet in June 2001, immediately after graduating from the University of Warwick, England, with an honours degree in French and German. She had also worked at Our Chalet in 1999/2000 as Office Assistant during the ‘year abroad’ part of her University course. Louise is fluent in German, enabling her to establish and maintain excellent relationships with local suppliers in Adelboden and throughout Switzerland as well as with German speaking guests.

Deputy World Centre Manager (Programme) – Sara Harris (UK)
Sara joined the team at Our Chalet in January 2004 to manage and develop the programme of daytime and evening activities for guests. She has a degree in Hospitality and Tourism Management and has previously worked as a tour manager for an adventure tour operator in South East Asia. She brings with her several years’ experience of customer service, as well as a love of travel, hiking and adventure activities.

PR and Marketing Manager – Alison Neurauter (UK)

Alison moved to Adelboden with her husband, Peter and their two children, Anton and Mattias, and works on a voluntary basis for the Centre producing brochures and newsletters, writing and updating the web site and helping with communications initiatives. She has worked in public relations and marketing for over 15 years and currently also works for WAGGGS Communications, marketing all four of the WAGGGS World Centres.

Receptionist – Caroline Smart (UK)

Caroline joined the team at Our Chalet in December 2003. She previously worked in an estate agency in her home town of Oban on the West Coast of Scotland and has 12 years of office experience in banking, accountancy and tourism. She holds the Baden Powell Trefoil Award and is a Queens Guide. Along with Liz, Caroline is responsible for the reception office, dealing with guest enquiries, answering the telephone and responding to e-mail enquires regarding bookings. She also arranges day tours for people visiting the Chalet.

Liz started work at Our Chalet in June 2004 having previously worked in the Planning Services department of the local District Council near her home town of Newark on Trent, Nottinghamshire, England. She has a degree in Geography from the University of Plymouth and has achieved her Baden Powell Badge. Along with Caroline, Liz is responsible for the reception office, dealing with guest enquiries, answering the telephone and responding to e-mail enquires regarding bookings. She also arranges day tours for people visiting the Chalet.

Volunteers

Our volunteers work for up to three months, helping with guest programme activities, serving in the shop, and working in the house, grounds and kitchen.
