Adelboden celebrates 600 years

 

 

 

 

 

 

On the weekend 3 to 5 September 2010, the village of Adelboden, where Our Chalet is located, celebrated 600 years. The Our Chalet volunteers and staff teamed joined in the local community festivities; marching in the street parade, attending the service and presentations of singing, yodelling, speeches and musical performers.

They were introduced to the crowd by the master of ceremonies with the following words in German: 

Our Chalet ist ein internationales Pfadizentrum, das im Jahr 1932 gegründet wurde. Unsere MitarbeiterInnen und Freiwilligen kommen aus der ganzen Welt und seit 78 Jahren ist Our Chalet mit Adelboden verbunden. PfadfinderInnen aus der ganzen Welt kommen nach Adelboden um Schweizer Kultur zu erfahren, internationale Freundschaften zu schliessen und die Herausforderungen der Gegend anzunehmen. Mit Adelboden feiert der Weltverband der PfadfinderInnen 2010 sein 100-jähriges Jubiläum.

Our Chalet, founded in 1932, is an international Girl Guide and Girl Scout Centre. The centre’s staff and volunteers come from all over the world and have been a part of the Adelboden community for 78 years. International Guides and Scouts come to Adelboden to learn about Swiss culture, make lifelong international friendships and enjoy challenging outdoor activities in the local area. The World Association of Girl Guides and Girl Scouts is celebrating its Centenary in 2010.
