Friends of Our Chalet 'Trefoil Week'

Late in September Our Chalet held the annual Friends of Our Chalet ‘Trefoil Week’ with a lovely group of ladies from Australia and the United States of America. Participants took the opportunity to stretch their legs and go hiking in the Swiss Alps to the local woodcarvers, Adelboden Village and Engstligen Falls for a BBQ lunch (and a paddle in the icy cold river for those completing the Our Chalet Challenge). Excursion days ventured to towns of Interlaken (sampling delights from the Schuh Chocolatier and visiting the scenic Trümmelbach Falls), Ballenberg (to visit the open air museum and learn about Switzerland all in a day, make friends with the farm animals and and try the craft of felting) and Thun (for a visit to Oberhofen castle, a boat cruise and more shopping).

Evening meals and night activities were a highlight for many with an International Festival, Adelboden Movie Night, Swiss Night, Cheese and Wine Night, Games Night and a Campfire. Guests and staff had a wonderful time, and went home (a little tired and sore) with new friends and stories to share, and a few suggestions and bright ideas on fundraising and promotional opportunities for Our Chalet. Trefoil Week next year will be held 18 – 25 April 2009, with details to be released on the Our Chalet website very soon.
