Situated high up in the mountains (1,350 metres/4,500 feet above sea level), on the outskirts of the beautiful Swiss Alpine village of Adelboden, Our Chalet is located in the very heart of the spectacular Bernese Oberland.
Our Chalet is ideally positioned close to the ski lifts and the village with magnificent views of the mountain panorama and easy access to a staggering array of exciting programme activities.
Adelboden is just 30 minutes drive from Interlaken and less than an hour away from Switzerland’s capital, Bern.
How to get to Our Chalet by Air and Rail
The closest main airports to Adelboden are Geneva, Zürich and Basel (all approximately 2 - 2½ hours away).
Switzerland’s rail system is renowned for its efficiency. Frutigen is the railway station that serves Adelboden, and trains for Frutigen depart almost hourly from all three airport (Flughafen) stations. Trains go via Bern and Spiez, and with most connections you will need to change at Bern.

Train tickets may be purchased all the way to Adelboden - Oey, to include travel on the bus. Tickets can be bought from your travel agent, or at any train station. Groups of 10 or more are eligible for a group discount, and there are deals for families with children under 16 years old, and for people travelling in pairs.
If you are planning to do a lot of travel in and around Switzerland, it may be worth purchasing Eurail or Swiss Rail passes. Options include the Swiss Pass, Swiss Flexi Pass, Youth Passes and Swiss Card. There is also a Regional Pass available for the Bernese Oberland. Even if Our Chalet is your only destination, there are Transfer Tickets and Half Fare Cards that can save you considerable money and so are worth looking into. Ask your travel agent for details.
Please also note that even if you plan to stop somewhere in Switzerland on your way to Adelboden, it is generally cheaper to buy a ticket from your starting point right through to Adelboden - Oey. The tickets are valid for travel to your destination for at least two days, some for up to a month depending on the distance.
Once in Frutigen, you can take a bus or taxi to Adelboden. The bus waits opposite Platform 1 for the train, and is well signed. Ask the driver to drop you off at Oey for Our Chalet.
At Oey, walk up to Our Chalet by crossing the road towards the petrol station, and taking the first left (there are signs along the way). It is a strenuous uphill walk of about 20 minutes. Near the top, the road forks and Our Chalet is off to the right along a road called Hohliebeweg (this is well signposted). Our driveway is the first left, and you’ve made it!
If you arrive during office hours, you can ask Our Chalet to meet you and/or your luggage at Oey for transport up the hill. This service must be booked in advance and there is a small additional charge.
If you would prefer to take a taxi all the way from Frutigen, we can book this for you in advance if you tell us which train you will be on.

Please note that Our Chalet’s office is closed between 12 noon and 2pm. If possible, please try to arrive between 2pm and 5pm.

- Austria, Germany or Eastern Switzerland - follow motorway A1 Zurich-Bern, motorway A6 Bern-Spiez, main road for Frutigen-Adelboden
- Germany, Northern France or Northern Switzerland - follow motorway A2 Basel-Bern, motorway A6 Bern-Spiez, main road for Frutigen-Adelboden
- Southern France or Western Switzerland - follow motorway A1 Geneva-Lausanne, motorway A12 Lausanne-Bern, motorway A6 Bern-Spiez, main road for Frutigen-Adelboden
- Italy or Southern Switzerland - follow Domodossola-Iselle-Simplon-Brig-Goppenstein, car transfer Lötschberg (Goppenstein-Kandersteg), main road Frutigen-Adelboden
After passing the main ‘Welcome to Adelboden’ sign, turn left to Our Chalet at Adelboden Oey - this is the main intersection just before the final ascent into the village and there is a sign for Our Chalet just after the large neon sign for the ski lifts.
Turn left again almost immediately (just after the petrol station) and drive up a steep hill. Follow the signposts, taking the right fork into Hohliebeweg and then the first left onto Our Chalet’s driveway.
Please note that free parking is available at Our Chalet, but the driveway is very narrow and unsuitable for some large vehicles. Most cars and small vans are fine, but large buses and coaches will not make it. If you are travelling in a large coach, please contact the office for details of where to park

Car travel advice
Please note that during the winter it is advisable to bring snow chains, and it is a good idea to practise using them before you arrive. Also, several mountain passes close during the winter so be sure to check when planning your itinerary.
Motorway TaxIf you are arriving from a neighbouring country and plan to use the motorways, you are required to pay a motorway tax. A ‘vignette’ can be purchased at the border, and costs 40 Swiss Francs. More information on rules of the road and travel is available from the Swiss Touring Club at www.tcs.ch.
