Our Chalet, Adelboden is set in the heart of the Swiss Alps amongst spectacular scenery and world-class skiing.
Adelboden lies in a sun-trap at the foot of the Wildstrubel and can enjoy up to 9 hours of sunshine per day in the winter. The winter season runs from mid December to the end of April and offers:
- skiing at approx 2000m above sea level
- over 50 lifts with virtually no queues
- state-of-the-art electronic lift pass system
- over 160km of pistes with extensive snow-making facilities

As host to the FIS World Cup ski races every year, Adelboden offers a challenge to even the best skier. But there’s also more than enough choice for beginners and intermediate skiers – and plenty for non-skiers too!
As well as skiing and snowboarding, you can try snowshoeing, tubing, cross country skiing, paragliding, winter walking, ice skating, curling, ice climbing, tobogganing, sit skiing, tailing, sleigh rides and much more…
Ski Hire
Our Chalet has linked up with a local ski hire shop, Oester Sport in Adelboden, where you and the whole family can hire the latest winter sports equipment, including skis and boots, snowboards, ice skates and much more. With equipment to fit children from as young as three years old as well as the latest technology for adult beginners to advanced skiers, the shop will give all Our Chalet guests a 10% discount when renting any of their winter sports equipment.

Learning to ski properly with a qualified ski instructor is not only the safest way to enjoy skiing, but it produces some amazing results! Skiers at all levels have the opportunity to take lessons with the Adelboden Ski School at a specially reduced rate that has been negotiated for Our Chalet guests. Beginner, intermediate and advanced lessons can all be arranged on a group or individual basis.
Good skiers can also book an advanced lesson to learn the latest techniques with our Centre Manager, Peter Neurauter, an internationally qualified ski instructor and coach.
Mountain Familiarisation
Guests who can already ski can familiarise themselves with Adelboden’s ski pistes under the guidance of a suitably qualified member of Our Chalet’s staff. Safety considerations are of paramount importance in all the activities we undertake. Accordingly, all staff who accompany guests will have completed a certificated training course before being allowed to work on the mountains.
Naturally, after a hard day’s skiing, you may just prefer to relax in one of the lounge areas, enjoy a quiet drink in the bar, catch up with family and friends in the Internet corner, watch a video, play a few board games or visit the on-site shop.

Skiing
With over 160km of groomed pistes on four different ski areas, there are plenty of nursery slopes and safe leisurely runs to help beginners progress, while advanced skiers should watch out for the World Cup run and Black Luegli! The local ski school offers classes for all levels, and off-piste skiing and ski-touring are available through the Alpine School Adelboden.
With a natural boarder park as well as a man-made park with obstacle course, half-pipe, air park and slide zone, Adelboden is the place to be on the snowboard scene. Lessons are available through the Swiss Snowboard School.
Use Our Chalet’s own wooden toboggans to enjoy 40km of prepared paths. Runs include a breathtaking ride through the trees from the top of the gondola station down to the village.
Cross country skiing
Adelboden boasts three cross-country tracks up to 13 km long, including a 5km track on a high plateau with guaranteed snow from November to May.
Snowshoe rambles (with shoes like tennis rackets) are a natural adventure, giving you the freedom to explore the area’s unspoilt alpine beauty and wildlife off the beaten track.
Fly like a bird and experience the thrill of a tandem flight over the majestic peaks, along with a qualified instructor from local company, Cloud 7. Guests can take out separate insurance on flights through Cloud 7. Ideal thermals and upcurrents make Adelboden a Mecca for paragliders.
Learn to curl under expert tuition, or why not try ‘eisstockschiessen’ - a team game of bowling on ice. Easy to learn and great fun!
The panoramic views of the surrounding mountains of Adelboden’s own outdoor ice rink conjure up a romantic dream, that could just come true!
Ride on a traditional horse-drawn sled through this picturesque mountain village and beyond to breathtaking scenery. Or get together with a group of friends for an hilarious tailing party where four to six sledges are drawn behind a horse.
With a sky of the deepest blue above and the high alpine sun on your face, enjoy the spectacular scenery at your own pace on a 40km network of prepared trails and paths. Visit the magnificent Engstligen waterfall, stop for lunch in one of the area’s many cosy alpine restaurants and follow the river path back to Our Chalet.
Enjoy a leisurely stroll through the charming village centre, browsing in the many modern sports shops and traditional gift shops. Take time out for a relaxing hot chocolate and delicious home-made cake in one of the warm and welcoming cafés.
